Our goal, from the start of this Pandemic, has been to be transparent with the impact COVID is having inside our facility of excellence. The COVID status tracker for Residents and employees is another way we can provide full transparency to our Residents, families, and employees. The information provided will be updated each weekday, Monday through Friday. Information provided by the close of the day on Monday will reflect what occurred over the weekend.

As of August 9th, 2022, we do not have any new positive cases of COVID-19 among our residents or staff members. Our residents who tested positive in recent weeks have fully recovered. We have three staff members who continue to recover at this time. Our medical director and clinical staff continue to monitor our residents and staff members daily.

As of October 1, 2021, we have good news to share. We have zero active COVID-19 cases with our residents and employees. We are happy to announce that our one employee who had tested positive within the recent weeks has recovered and returned to work on 9/26. 

In person visits are back. Family members and loved ones are welcome to stop by any time between 7am and 9pm Monday through Sunday. Advanced notice is appreciated but not required. As of September 21, 2021, we do have one staff member who has tested positive for COVID-19.  The last day worked for our employee was 9/8. Our team member is recovering nicely and will return to work soon. 

In person visits are back. Family members and loved ones are welcome to stop by any time between 7am and 9pm Monday through Sunday. Advanced notice is appreciated but not required. Greetings to our Friends and Family of Keota Health Care Center!

As of September 12, 2021, we do have one staff member who has tested positive for COVID-19.  The last day worked for our employee was 9/8. Our team member will follow all CDC guidelines to recover and return to work safely. We did test all staff and residents in the last 24 -hours and all are negative. 

At Keota Health Care Center, we want to assure you that we are adhering to rigorous infection control practices throughout our facility. We will start conducting twice-weekly facility-wide testing per the Iowa Dept. of Health guidance and CMS.  Regular testing is an effective method of slowing the virus’s spread, so we look forward to continuing this practice until the virus is no longer prevalent. We continue to stay in touch with the County Health Department to ensure we are following the most up-to-date policies and procedures to defend against the spread of the virus. We are also collaborating with our medical director daily.

Unfortunately, we cannot allow visitors inside our facility at this time. However, we strongly encourage families to schedule a phone call or virtual call with your family member, please reach out to the facility directly at 641.636.3400 or you may also message us at the link below.

As a reminder, the following defensive measures are in place at our facility: 

  • Closely monitoring and screening all residents and team members for symptoms on a daily and shift-by-shift basis. This includes temperature checks and other CDC-recommended screenings. 
  • Enforcing social distancing. 
  • Allowing only essential individuals (those providing critical care for residents) into the healthcare community. 
  • Practicing frequent hand hygiene in accordance with CDC guidelines.
  • Frequent disinfecting of high-touch surfaces to decrease environmental contamination.
  • Taking higher-than-required protective equipment precautions, such as wearing N95 masks, gloves and gowns as situations warrant their use. 
  • Requiring all residents to stay in their rooms to better protect themselves.

Greetings to our Friends and Family of Keota Health Care Center!

As we continue to navigate the changes and adapt to our new normal during the covid pandemic, we want say THANK YOU! for all your patience. We are happy to report that 70% of our staff and 90% of our residents have received the covid-19 vaccines. We send out a HUGE THANK YOU to CVS for facilitating our vaccinations.  Shout outs also for Keokuk County Public Health which will be helping with vaccines for any new admissions and staff in the future.

We refer to the CDC and IDPH guidelines, the county covid infection percentage rate, and active covid outbreak status when determining any facility activities and policies.

We are currently scheduling for indoor visits so please call the facility at (641) 636-3400 ext. 6 or ask for Courtney (Activity Director) or Tuesdee (Covid Officer). If they are unavailable, please leave a message.
