Greetings to our Friends and Family of Keota Health Care Center!

As of September 12, 2021, we do have one staff member who has tested positive for COVID-19.  The last day worked for our employee was 9/8. Our team member will follow all CDC guidelines to recover and return to work safely. We did test all staff and residents in the last 24 -hours and all are negative.

At Keota Health Care Center, we want to assure you that we are adhering to rigorous infection control practices throughout our facility. We will start conducting twice-weekly facility-wide testing per the Iowa Dept. of Health guidance and CMS.  Regular testing is an effective method of slowing the virus’s spread, so we look forward to continuing this practice until the virus is no longer prevalent. We continue to stay in touch with the County Health Department to ensure we are following the most up-to-date policies and procedures to defend against the spread of the virus. We are also collaborating with our medical director daily.

Unfortunately, we cannot allow visitors inside our facility at this time. However, we strongly encourage families to schedule a phone call or virtual call with your family member, please reach out to the facility directly at 641.636.3400 or you may also message us at the link below.

As a reminder, the following defensive measures are in place at our facility:

  • Closely monitoring and screening all residents and team members for symptoms on a daily and shift-by-shift basis. This includes temperature checks and other CDC-recommended screenings.
  • Enforcing social distancing.
  • Allowing only essential individuals (those providing critical care for residents) into the healthcare community.
  • Practicing frequent hand hygiene in accordance with CDC guidelines.
  • Frequent disinfecting of high-touch surfaces to decrease environmental contamination.
  • Taking higher-than-required protective equipment precautions, such as wearing N95 masks, gloves and gowns as situations warrant their use.
  • Requiring all residents to stay in their rooms to better protect themselves.

Thank you for your kindness and understanding through this time.

Be well,

David Barrientos, Administrator
